This Alexander Gold is off our direct line. He is included because his grandson is Robert Herald.
Young Robert Herald appears in the 1851 Census with his 3rd cousin Robert Gold (b.1783) & Isabel Mathers and has been recorded as Robert & Isabel's GrandSon, when we think that he is actually the GrandSon of this Alexander Gold.
This Alexander Gold had at least 7 children, but we are only concerned with daughter Jessie (b.1828) who had a son Robert Herald in 1846 and married James Herald in 1851.
